Light Fixtures in Montreal: Lighting research abroad.

Myself, 3 reps from SDLA and 3 other designers traveled from San Diego to Montreal to meet with Axis Lighting. Axis Lighting is a lighting company that specializes in high performing, contemporary light fixtures.

Lighting design can make such a huge impact on a space and designers love the opportunity to customize features in their designs. Axis Lighting is a great ally when it comes to lighting because they offer interior designers numerous opportunities to tailor the fixture to be exactly what you need. Their open-mindedness, adaptability, and collaborative nature allows for some brilliant ideas and lighting designs to meet the unique needs of any space.

We went to the factory/warehouse to meet the staff and get a preview into what they’ve been working on and collections that are about to be released. The team was awesome and the factory itself was impressively organized. The Axis team is very obviously a team of innovative designers and prioritize flexible designs and quality execution. They do a lot of customization on their products to ensure simple installation and beautiful fixtures.

One standout feature of Axis Lighting is their custom color-coded wires they put in each fixture they produce. The inside of the fixtures were just as beautiful as the outside! When you open up an Axis light fixture, the wires are nicely organized, making it simple for contractors or electricians to install. This gives the designer extra peace of mind knowing that the wires and installation instructions are simple and bound for a successful installation.

Beautiful entry to restaurant in Montreal for design inspiration.

This was my first work related trip of my career, and it definitely set the standard high. Axis lighting took really good care of myself and the group I traveled with. On our down time, we got to go on a short walking tour of the city, attended Cirque du Soleil in the VIP section, had great food and drinks, and had the most amazing views.

The most exciting part of the trip was the inspiration I drew from everything around me. The hospitality design in the hotel we stayed in, the restaurants we ate at, and speakeasies we explored.

It was so charming yet dated, modern and historic - it was like New York City and France had a baby. This trip was a really good growth experience - both personally and professionally.
